Penguin Class
Welcome to Penguin Class!
Mr Beard (class teacher)
Mrs Calder (TA)
Penguin Class is home to our wonderful Year 2 children as they continue their exciting learning journey. Penguins are social, caring and adaptable animals who work together as a team. These are qualities we value in our classroom, where children are encouraged to support one another, persevere when things are tricky and celebrate their successes together.
We have an exciting and varied curriculum, which is detailed in the curriculum maps below. But learning in Penguin Class is about so much more than what is written on a page! Our children will become budding thespians as they take part in our annual Nativity play, perform dances from around the world, sing songs to deepen their understanding of the Great Fire of London, and enjoy many other creative and practical learning experiences.
Above all, we want our children to feel happy, valued and excited to come to school each day. Through a nurturing environment filled with creativity, collaboration and fun, we help our children to develop the knowledge, skills and confidence they need to keep moving forward on their learning adventure.
On this page you will find links to useful documents and resources that will give you an insight into the Year 2 curriculum. The unit overviews give a summary of the units of work that we cover over the year. You can also read our latest class news and see photos of what we've been getting up to.
