Welcome to Duckling Class! We are the youngest (Reception Class) of the Wickhambreaux Community. Like ducklings, we are are naturally curious, full of energy and ready to explore the world around us. Our class is nurturing, generous and a caring place where all are welcome. Mrs. Maxted (Early Years Co-Ordinator), and Mrs McVeigh (TA) all help us with our learning at different times of the week. So come and join us as we fly through learning adventures in our first year at school!
Our learning is centered around key stories within the themes detailed below as well as any specific interests we have as a group, often taking our learning on exciting new pathways.
We love our Monster Phonics©, Numberblocks© and JigsawPSHE© lessons throughout the year as well as material from our specialist teachers, Mrs. Maisey (Music) and Mme. Holland (French) who also reflect our curriculum themes.
Our learning throughout the year is delivered in a holistic approach, covering a variety of themes. In the Autumn terms we begin our Memorable Learning Journey with Nursery Rhymes, Myself, Autumn, Celebrations and Toys. As the season changes in the New Year we learn about Winter, Space and Traditional Tales followed by in the Summer terms, Minibeasts and Water/Seaside.
