National Poetry Day 2026

As is tradition, Wickhambreaux celebrated National Poetry Day on 1st October with a wonderful day dedicated to the joy of poetry.

Throughout the day, the children enjoyed reading and writing poems, with KS1 exploring list poetry and KS2 getting creative with blackout poetry, whilst also partaking in the live assembly with Michael Rosen.

We also enjoyed a special poetry worship, where children and adults shared some of their favourite poems with the school. We were then treated to a fabulous autumn poetry performance by Duckling Class, which was a real highlight of the day!

But remember – poetry is for every day, not just National Poetry Day!
