World Book Day!

What a stupendous start to WBD! A wonderful procession of all of the children to showcase their fabulous costumes, as they enjoy spending the day as a favourite fairy tale or children’s classic book character. All was rounded off with a hearty sing-song as we sang the World Book Day Song (a firm school tradition now).

More children hunted around the school to find photos for the Caught Reading a Fairy Tale competition; they had to identify the member of staff hidden behind the book and also name the fairy tale (titles had been scrubbed out). There will be a prize draw during a special afternoon worship tomorrow, where a lucky child drawn from all the high scorers in their year group will each win a £5 book token.

And as if this wasn’t enough, thanks for our excellent Modern Foreign Language teacher, Madame Holland, the children got to learn and enjoy some classic French tales too.

Just before lunch, we finally had a wonderful chance to take it easy and enjoy a good read as we all took part in Drop Everything And Read across the school.
