Physical Education at Wickhambreaux
Wickhambreaux Primary School we are committed to providing all children with learning opportunities to engage in Physical Education. This policy reflects our schools vision and British values in relation to the teaching and learning of PE. It has been developed through a process of consultation with school staff and governors.
Wickhambreaux's primary aim is to inspire and engage children’s interest in sporting activities through providing a wide range of opportunities within school, after school and within the wider community.
We aim to foster children’s interest in physical wellbeing and healthy lifestyles in order to establish long lasting lifestyle messages.
We aim to promote our Christian values through sports and positively encourage children to share, respect, support, trust and work together as a school community.

Vision Statement
At Wickhambreaux Church of England School our vision for PE and Sport is that every child has the opportunity to develop physical confidence and competence in a range of sport, through taking part in physical activities delivered by expert coaches on a regular basis as part of our wider school curriculum.
We hope that, through the two hours of active PE lessons (including a range of team games and dance) and our extended school program, which offers a variety of sports each evening, the children develop a positive attitude towards keeping fit and healthy.
Wickhambreaux is a “Healthy” school with clubs such as C4L and curriculum lessons to educate the children on a healthy, balanced diet and lifestyle.
The children also participate in a sports week annually which enables them to discover new sports and celebrates the values of team work, good sportsmanship and compassion to others.
Key Stage 2 sport leaders work alongside the PE co-ordinator to organise events within school. This allows the older children to develop leadership skills (democracy) and the importance of communication and organisation.
The school actively encourages our children to engage in sports outside of school and have close links with local sporting clubs in the community which may of our children utilise.
Through our sporting commitment Wickhambreaux Church of England School has achieved a Gold Kite mark in sport once again this year.
